Michigan-based Consumers Energy, an energy Provider, has begun construction on the Blackman Solar Gardens project in Michigan. The 30-acre site planned to generate up to 2.5 MW of electricity by year-end. The project aimed to expand the Solar Gardens program, which lets customers support solar energy without owning panels. Blackman Solar became the fourth facility in the program, joining Cadillac, Western Michigan University, and Grand Valley State University sites. The site included nearly 5,000 panels to supply renewable electricity to about 2,500 customers. Consumers Energy served 6.8 million residents across Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. Recently, Consumers Energy has started construction of 220 MW Liberty Farm solar project in Michigan.
