Brazil-based Atlas Renewable Energy, a renewable energy generation company, has signed a new power deal with Dow to supply solar energy from the Casablanca Solar Energy Complex in Bahia, Brazil. The plant has a capacity of 358 MW and is expected to reduce about 37,000 tons of CO₂ emissions each year. This followed a previous 15-year agreement between the two companies in 2020 for energy from Atlas’ 187 MW Jacaranda plant. Dow, a global materials science company, used the successful execution of the earlier agreement as a basis for extending the partnership. Energy made up 50% of Dow’s site emissions, prompting its shift to renewable sources. Dow aimed to cut annual net carbon emissions by 5 million metric tons by 2030 and reach net-zero by 2050. Since early 2025, all nine of its Brazilian sites have been powered entirely by renewable energy. Atlas Renewable sold a 20% stake in the Vista Alegre solar complex to Hydro Rein, aligning with its broader strategy that includes new supply deals like the one with Dow.
