Hydro Rein acquired a 20% stake in the 902 MW Vista Alegre solar complex in Brazil from Atlas Renewable Energy. The project began operations in December 2024 and will generate 2 TWh annually. In 2023, it secured investments and signed a 21-year PPA with Albras. The agreement will start in January 2025. Hydro Rein had worked with Atlas and Albras since 2021 and secured an acquisition option in March 2023. By the end of 2024, its total capacity reached 2.6 GW gross and 0.75 GW net across five renewable projects. The project was financed through a BNDES loan, the largest US dollar renewable energy loan issued by BNDES. Hydro Rein also co-owns the 531 MW Mendubim solar complex and the 456 MW Ventos de São Zacarias wind complex. This further expanded its presence in Brazil’s renewable energy market.
