Spain-headquartered ACCIONA Energía, a subsidiary of ACCIONA S.A, has started feeding electricity into the grid from Cotoperí Solar in La Romana. The 163 MW complex includes three plants generating 286 GWh annually for 166,000 households. It is the largest solar project in Central America and the Caribbean. The construction employed over 600 people, supporting the local economy. ACCIONA Energía holds a 51% stake and Cotosolar Holding owns the remaining 49% stake. ACCIONA is also building the Pedro Corto plant (82.69 MW) with Grupo Pais. In May, it signed agreements to expand rural energy access in the country. ACCIONA and Centro Arcoíris are improving water access for 4,500 people in Bajos de Haina. ACCIONA also builds Santo Domingos eastern aqueduct and Cabo Rojo Airports runway in Pedernales. Recently,  Acciona Energía also began 178 MW PV project in Peru.
