Ameresco Sunel Energy SA, a joint venture between Greece-based Sunel Group and US-based Ameresco, Inc., has begun commercial operations at the 100 MW Delfini solar project in Prosotsani, Drama, Greece. UK-based Cero Generation selected Ameresco Sunel Energy SA to oversee the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) for this project. According to Ameresco Sunel Energy, Delfini is Greece’s first renewable energy project supported by a private PPA with Switzerland-based Axpo Solutions AG, without relying on government subsidies. Additionally, the project benefits from the Next Generation EU Recovery and Resilience Facility. Located on a mountainside, Delfini connects to the national grid via a 12.5 km transmission network. The facility is expected to produce 157 GWh annually, powering 58,140 homes and cutting CO2 emissions by 65,300 tons.
