Ameresco, Inc. has inaugurated Kūpono Solar, a significant renewable energy project at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam West Loch Annex. The facility, combining a 42 MW solar array with 168 MWh of battery storage, bolsters Hawaiian Electric’s grid resilience while advancing Hawaii’s ambitious target of achieving 100% clean energy by 2045. Situated on 131 acres of Navy land, Kūpono Solar plays a crucial role in providing sustainable power equivalent to approximately 10,000 homes and curbing 50,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. The dedication ceremony was attended by stakeholders from the Navy, Hawaiian Electric, and Ameresco.
