Ameresco, Inc., a US-based cleantech integrator, has signed a $183 million Energy Savings Performance Contract with the U.S. General Services Administration to support the Denver Federal Center’s net-zero emissions goal by 2045. The project includes installing 14.4 MW of PV systems, 62.4 MMBtu/h geothermal bores, and 20.1 MMBtu/h electric heat pumps, providing heating and cooling while replacing fossil-fuel-based systems in 13 buildings. The initiative is expected to reduce grid electricity usage and fossil fuel consumption by approximately 51% each. Additionally, it aligns with sustainable federal building standards by cutting natural gas consumption by 49% and water usage by 10%. A related Energy Sales Agreement leverages tax credits for renewable energy.
