AMEA Power, based in the UAE, has finalized a 20-year PPA with South Africa’s Eskom for the 120 MW Doornhoek Solar Project. Awarded under Bid Window 6 of the REIPPPP, the project involves a consortium led by AMEA Power and local partners. With a total investment of $120 million, AMEA Power holds the majority share, collaborating with Ziyanda Energy and Dzimuzwo Consulting, both owned by African firms. Standard Bank South Africa will provide debt funding, while the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) will offer equity funding for local partners. Set near Klerksdorp, the project aims to generate over 325 GWh annually, powering around 97,000 households and offsetting 330,000 tonnes of carbon emissions, aligning with South Africa’s renewable energy targets.
