India-based Alpex Solar has announced a INR 642 crore investment to establish a 1.6 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Kosi Kotwan, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The project will be completed in three phases: the first 500 MW by October 2025, followed by two additional phases in April and September 2026. This facility is Alpex’s most significant venture since its inception and aims to strengthen its product offerings, which currently include solar PV modules, aluminum frames, EPC services, and IPP expertise. The company will fund the project through a combination of internal accruals, bank loans, and equity infusion. Alpex has also purchased a 7-acre plot for the plant, which will be built alongside its new 1.2-GW greenfield solar PV module facility. This expansion is expected to double Alpex’s module capacity to 2.4 GW, solidifying its position in the Indian renewable energy market.
