The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has signed a $24.3 million financing deal with Bangladesh-based Muktagacha Solartech Energy Limited (MSEL) for a 20 MW grid-connected PV plant in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. The funding includes a $15.5 million loan from ADB and $8.8 million from the Leading Asia’s Private Infrastructure Fund 2 (LEAP 2), managed by ADB. Owned by Joules Power Limited (JPL), the project is among Bangladesh’s first private utility-scale solar plants with international funding. The plant aims to produce 37.9 GWh of electricity annually while cutting 18,344 tons of CO2 emissions. Renewable energy comprises just 4.5% of Bangladesh’s power mix, underlining the initiative’s significance.
