Denmark-based Ørsted and US-based Salt River Project (SRP) have unveiled the Eleven Mile Solar Center, a $1 billion solar farm and energy storage facility in Arizona’s Pinal County. As per Ørsted, this 300 MW PV project, paired with a 300 MW/1,200 MWh storage, is part of Ørsted’s $20 billion US energy investment plan and will power 65,000 homes. The project sourced equipment from First Solar, Fluence, and NEXTracker, creating over 1,000 local construction jobs. Ørsted claims the facility will generate $80 million in tax revenues. This is SRP’s largest co-located solar and BESS facility, serving homes, businesses, and a Meta data center in Mesa. The Eleven Mile Solar Center expands Ørsted’s US onshore portfolio, now exceeding 5 GW nationwide, with further projects slated for completion this year.
