Germany-based Fluence Energy GmbH, a subsidiary of Fluence Energy, Inc., has been selected to provide and service a 58 MWh battery-based energy storage system for Norway-based Statkraft’s newest project in Zerbst, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. This hybrid project combines a 47 MW solar park with a 16 MW energy storage system, making it the largest of its kind in the country. The plant is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions by approximately 32,000 tons annually. The project is part of Germany’s Innovation Tenders, which aim to speed up the development of hybrid renewable assets. This will be Fluence’s sixth collaboration with Statkraft, Europe’s largest renewable energy producer, with past projects of Statkraft in the UK and Ireland.
