Zelestra, a global renewable energy company, has inaugurated its La Unión solar plant in Montería, Córdoba, Colombia. The project represents an investment of over $ 200 million and is equipped with 220,960 solar panels, generating an installed capacity of 144 MW—enough to power over 132,000 households. By producing clean energy, the facility will reduce CO2 emissions by 123,346 tons annually, which is equivalent to planting 12.3 million trees. The plant’s development is said to have created 1,276 local jobs, contributing to the economic and social growth of the region. Strategically located in an area with high solar potential and favorable climatic conditions, Zelestra expects the La Unión solar project to serve as a benchmark for sustainable energy projects in Colombia.
