PSE announces 350 MW clean energy projects

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) has unveiled two major renewable energy projects in Washington state, adding nearly 350 MW of capacity. The Appaloosa Solar Project, a 142 MW utility-scale solar facility in Garfield County, will utilize existing transmission rights to reduce costs and environmental impact. It is expected to be operational by December 2026, with Qcells USA managing construction and development. The second project, the Greenwater Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), located near Sumner, will balance electricity supply during peak demand periods. With BrightNight as a partner, the system will use lithium-ion batteries to support over 70,000 customers in winter and 100,000 in summer, starting mid-2027. These projects are part of PSE’s broader goal to add 1,500 MW of battery storage by 2030.
