According to the Solar Market Insight Report by SEIA, the US solar market installed 9.4 GW (DC) of capacity in Q2 2024, setting a record despite a 21% drop from Q1. Year-over-year, installations rose by 29%. Solar accounted for 67% of new electricity-generating capacity in the first half of 2024. Texas led with 5.5 GW (DC) installed, followed by Florida with 2.9 GW (DC). US-based domestic module manufacturing grew by 10 GW to 31.3 GW. Residential installations declined to 1.1 GW (DC), driven by California’s net billing shift. Utility-scale solar surged 59% year-over-year with 7.6 GW (DC) installed. As per SEIA, anticipated tariffs on Southeast Asian imports are expected to have minimal impact due to alternative supply chains.
