Falls County welcomes National Grid’s 270 MW solar farm

National Grid Renewables has commenced onsite construction of the Blevins Solar Project in Falls County, Texas, expected to provide 270 MW of solar power upon completion. According to National Grid Renewables, this project is its second in Falls County and will cover 2,300 acres, generating around $90 million in economic benefits over its 20-year lifespan. Construction is being managed by Mortenson Construction, with an expected 360 jobs created during the construction. First Solar’s Series 6 Plus modules will power the facility. Scheduled to begin commercial operations by the end of 2025, the project aims to reduce 437,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually. Additionally, two PPAs were signed in late 2023, securing long-term energy customers.
