Two renewable energy companies, France’s TotalEnergies and India’s Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), have joined forces to develop a solar energy portfolio with a total capacity of 1,150 MW (AC) / 1,575 MW (DC) in Khavda, Gujarat. This 50:50 partnership will supply electricity through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with SECI and through sales on the wholesale market. AGEL, which manages over 11 GW of renewable energy capacity in India, will bring assets to the joint venture, while TotalEnergies will contribute $444 million in equity. The Khavda site, being developed by AGEL, is set to become the world’s largest renewable energy project, covering 538 km² and integrating both solar and wind power with combined capacity of 30 GW, of which 2 GW is already operational. Once fully operational, it is expected sufficient energy to power approximately 16 million homes in India.
