Bristol landfill transformed into solar power site

The Bristol Landfill Solar Project, Rhode Island’s largest closed landfill solar site, has been commissioned recently. Developed by US-based NuGen Capital Management, LLC, the 6.875 MWdc facility spans over 90 acres and features 20,692 panels, expected to produce around 8.7 million kWh annually. This energy can power over 700 homes or offset 9 million miles of gasoline vehicle travel. Toray Plastics (America), Inc. will purchase all the generated energy. Supported by Rhode Island Commerce’s Renewable Energy Fund, the initiative created approximately 130 jobs and aligns with NuGen’s mission to convert neglected sites into clean energy sources.
