KenGen to install 42.5 MW solar plant in Kenya

Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) is set to add 42.5 MW of solar energy in the Seven Forks area to scale up Kenya’s green energy deployment. According to the company, the project, implemented in partnership with the French Development Agency (AFD), aims to install a solar power plant within 28 months. This solar plant will complement hydroelectricity generation during the day, saving water for electricity generation at night, especially during droughts. The additional capacity will help cushion Kenyans against rising power costs and bolster renewable energy. The company claims this is its first solar project and will deliver more renewable energy to the national grid in response to climate change.
