Bombardier enhances sustainability efforts going solar

Canada-based Bombardier has announced the installation of over 3,000 solar panels on the roof of its London Biggin Hill Service Centre, located at London Biggin Hill Airport, as part of its ongoing commitment to sustainable practices and reducing energy consumption across its global facilities. Developed in collaboration with Zestec Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of Octopus Energy group, this PV project will generate more than 1.133 GWh annually, reducing annual carbon emissions by up to 252 tons and supplying up to 32% of the facility’s total energy demand from an on-site renewable source. The London Biggin Hill Service Centre, which is approaching 250,000 square feet, offers extensive heavy maintenance capabilities, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, modifications, and avionics installations for Bombardier Learjet, Challenger, and Global aircraft
