Avangrid begins Powell Creek construction in Ohio

Avangrid, Inc., a sustainable energy firm based in Connecticut and part of the Iberdrola Group, has begun construction on its Powell Creek solar project near Miller City, Putnam County, Ohio. Following its ‘Golden Row’ model, the project has installed over 1,000 panels, marking the first step in a larger plan for approximately 300,000 panels. The project is forecast to generate renewable energy equivalent to powering about 30,000 homes annually. As per the company, the initiative will benefit the community by creating 400 local jobs during construction, boosting economic growth through increased property tax revenues, and funding essential infrastructure like new sewer lines to support residential and commercial expansions. This initiative follows Avangrid’s successful establishment of the Blue Creek wind farm in 2012 in Ohio.
