Tronox expands renewable projects in Africa

Tronox Holdings plc has announced a long-term power purchase agreement with NOA Group for nearly 497 GWh of renewable wind and solar energy to power its South African operations. The project, expected by 2027, will reduce Tronox’s global Scope 1 & 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 12%. This move aligns with Tronox’s goal to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and follows a 200MW solar power agreement with SOLA Group. The new project will enable 70% of Tronox’s South African electricity to come from renewables, cutting local emissions by 54%. Globally, Tronox aims to reduce emissions by 25% from the 2019 baseline through various initiatives.
