EDP Renewables North America LLC has completed the Misenheimer Solar Park in Stanly County, North Carolina, with a capacity of 74 MW, making it one of the state’s largest solar projects. Initially initiated by Orion Power Generation, LLC, the project transitioned to EDPR NA in 2020. The Misenheimer park is anticipated to power over 12,000 North Carolina homes annually, benefiting local communities economically and environmentally. Local landowners will receive $27 million over the park’s lifespan, with $3.5 million supporting community services. The solar park will conserve 93 million gallons (352 million liters) of water compared to conventional energy sources. EDPR NA aims to add 5.7 GW of renewable energy capacity to the grid by 2027, solidifying its US leadership in renewable energy.
