Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) has recently issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the development of the Khazna Solar Photovoltaic (PV) project in Abu Dhabi. This project aims to add 1,500 MW of solar capacity to the region’s energy grid. Ownership of the project entity will involve private sector participation, with the successful bidder holding up to 40% equity, while the remaining equity will be indirectly held by the Abu Dhabi Government. Once operational, the Khazna Solar PV project will power 160,000 homes and reduce CO2 emissions by over 2.4 million metric tonnes annually.
