Duke Energy has launched PowerPairSM, a pilot program in North Carolina aimed at promoting home solar generation with energy storage. Approved by the North Carolina Utility Commission on January 11, 2024, the program offers incentives of up to $9,000 for residential customers installing solar plus battery systems. Developed in collaboration with stakeholders, it integrates customers into expanded demand response programs, allowing temporary adjustments to system settings to supply electricity back to the grid. Participants, enrolled via a residential solar choice rider or net metering bridge rider, receive bill credits. Enrollment opens on May 10 through a random selection process, with a four-week application window. Only approved installers must be used, and program details are available on the Duke Energy website.
