Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation’s (ANSTO) Australian Synchrotron in Clayton has completed the installation of over 3,200 solar panels across its rooftops, covering nearly 6,600 m². This solar project, completed over five months, is projected to annually save ANSTO over 2 million kWh and reduce its carbon footprint by more than 1,680 tonnes of CO2. With a capacity of 1,668 kWh and an inverter, the solar system will contribute to the synchrotron’s energy needs, resulting in an estimated AUD 2 million in savings over the next five years. ANTSO aims to reduce grid electricity dependence by 20% by 2035.
