Botswana’s first Utility-Scale PV project commences construction

Scatec ASA achieves financial close for the first 60 MW of the 120 MW Mmadinare Solar Complex in Botswana, beginning construction of the nation’s first utility-scale PV project. The plant will annually power 20,000 households, avoiding 48,000 tons of CO2 emissions. The total project expenditure is BWP 1.4 billion. Scatec owns the project entirely, also serving as EPC, asset manager, and O&M service provider.
