India-headquartered NLC India Renewables (NIRL), a subsidiary of NLC India, and Assam Power Distribution Company (APDCL) have signed a joint venture agreement to develop 1 GW of solar power projects in Assam. The JV will be owned 51% by NIRL and 49% by APDCL. NIRL will contribute renewable energy development expertise, while APDCL will manage land acquisition, regulatory approvals, and power evacuation. Power purchase agreements will secure the sale of the generated power to Assam DISCOMs for 25 years. This initiative aims to enhance Assam’s energy security, create green jobs, and support sustainable development in the region.
