Spain-based Exus Renewables acquired the 130 MW Cibele solar farm in Rio Maior and Cadaval, Portugal, from Lightsource bp. This followed its earlier acquisition of the 51 MW Cascante wind farm in Spain, set to operate in 2025. Construction of the Cibele solar farm will begin soon, with operations planned for 2026. The site is designed to allow a future wind component addition. Exus manages over 6 GW of renewable energy assets across Europe and is developing 200 MW of wind and solar projects in Portugal, with 70 MW under construction and 130 MW already operational. The project supports Portugal’s goal of achieving 20 GW of solar capacity by 2030. Cuatrecasas and Mott MacDonald advised Exus, while Capcora, PLMJ, and Enertis advised Lightsource bp.
