US-based Vistra an integrated retail electricity and power generation company announced the completion of two utility-scale solar projects in Illinois and extended operations at the 1,185-MW Baldwin Power Plant until 2027, addressing MISO reliability concerns. The Baldwin site now includes a 68-MW solar facility and 2-MW/8-MWh energy storage system, producing 140,000 MWh annually. Part of Illinois’ Coal to Solar Initiative, the plant supports 298 jobs, generates $262 million in regional economic impact, and sustains property tax revenue. Additional renewable projects include a 44-MW solar and 2-MW/8-MWh storage facility at Coffeen and a 52-MW solar and 2-MW/8-MWh storage facility at Newton, advancing the transition to clean energy
