AMEA Power has commissioned the 500 MW Abydos Solar PV Plant in Egypt’s Aswan Governorate, known to be one of Africa’s largest solar PV projects. The plant will generate 1,500 GWh of clean energy annually, powering approximately 300,000 households and offsetting 782,300 tons of CO2 emissions. Completed in 18 months with over 3,000 workers involved. It was financed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank (FMO), and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Additionally, AMEA Power signed agreements for a 500 MW wind project, supporting Egypt’s goal of achieving 42% renewable energy by 2030.
