Switzerland-based Studer announced an upgrade to its Variotrack solar charge controllers, the VT65 and VT80 models. The input voltage will increase from 150 Vdc to 175 Vdc. The new models are named VT65-175 and VT80-175. This adjustment reflects the recent rise in 72-cell and 144 half-cell solar module usage. According to Studer, the upgrade allows for connecting up to three large 72-cell panels safely. The controllers can handle maximum voltages even in cold temperatures with enhanced thermal design. These units maintain output in temperatures 5°C higher than before. According to Studer, the models will be available from March 2025. Pricing will remain unchanged compared to the current 150 Vdc versions.
