Fluke Corporation released a survey exploring challenges and opportunities for the solar industry’s path to a net-zero future. Conducted by Censuswide with over 400 solar OEMs, technicians, and installers across the UK, Germany, Spain, and the US, the survey found 63% believe solar will dominate their country’s energy transition. However, challenges such as concerns about panel efficiency (91%), inverter failures (39%), and reliance on reactive maintenance (nearly one-third) were highlighted. Over half of respondents identified predictive maintenance as a key priority, and 59% stressed the need for technician training in advanced diagnostic tools. AI integration in solar panel design and maintenance was seen as a significant opportunity by 45% of participants, with many emphasizing the role of smart technologies and data-driven solutions to improve efficiency. Supply chain resilience was also a major concern for over half of respondents, reflecting ongoing macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainties. Fluke underscored the importance of adopting AI-enabled tools and skilled training to address these challenges and drive the solar industry forward.
