India-headquartered Ambuja Cements has commissioned its 200 MW solar power project in Khavda and started power transmission, marking the first phase of its 1 GW renewable energy initiative. The remaining 806 MW, including 156 MW of wind power from Khavda and 300 MW of solar power from Rajasthan, will be commissioned in phases by March 2025, with the final 350 MW solar capacity expected by June 2025. The project, backed by INR 10,000 crore (~$1.17 billion) investment in renewable energy and waste heat recovery systems, aims to reduce power costs by 70%.
