France-based TotalEnergies, in partnership with OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE), has announced agreements to develop 300 MW of renewable energy projects in Oman. The electricity generated will be supplied to Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) through long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPA). TotalEnergies and OQAE, holding 49% and 51% shares respectively, will oversee three projects: the 100 MW North Solar project in Saih Nihaydah, and two 100 MW wind projects, Riyah-1 and Riyah-2, in Amin and West Nimr. Construction is set to begin in early 2025, with electricity production expected by late 2026. These projects aim to generate over 1.4 TWh of renewable electricity annually, supporting Oman’s Vision 2040 goals.
