US-based Avangrid, Inc., part of the Iberdrola Group, has signed a PPA with Portland General Electric (PGE) for the 120 MW (AC) Tower Solar project in Morrow County, Oregon. The facility spans 900 acres and will feature over 200,000 solar panels. Set to begin operations in 2026, it will supply renewable energy to PGE’s Green Future Impact (GFI) program. This GFI initiative supports sustainability for key subscribers like QTS, powering Meta’s data center campus. Avangrid claims the project will create over 200 jobs at peak construction and generate ~$20 million in taxes and PILOTs for public services. Once completed, Tower Solar will be Avangrid’s sixth solar facility in Oregon, increasing its renewable portfolio to 1.6 GW and expanding the GFI program’s total capacity to 482 MW (AC).
