UK-based Pavegen has unveiled the “Solar+” tile at the Liveable Cities conference in Dubai, UAE, an innovative solution combining solar and kinetic energy. According to Pavegen, the Solar+ tile generates up to 30 times more energy under optimal conditions than its predecessor, making it their most efficient product yet. Solar cells provide daytime energy, while kinetic energy from footsteps powers operations at night. The technology supports off-grid storage and e-transport solutions for urban settings. A redesigned substructure reduces raw material usage and lowers the carbon footprint by 30%. Modular in design, the tiles integrate easily into urban environments, advancing smart city initiatives. Pavegen claims its previous tiles have captured over 1 billion footsteps globally, generating data and energy across London, the US, Australia, and Hong Kong.
