France-based Voltalia, a global renewable energy leader, has secured a 15-year Corporate PPA with CERN, the renowned scientific organization focused on fundamental physics. Under this agreement, CERN will purchase electricity from two solar farms in southern France, totaling 26.8 MW in capacity. The solar projects will generate power equivalent to the needs of 19,400 residents. According to Voltalia, this will prevent 8,775 tons of CO2 emissions annually. CERN, whose particle accelerators near Geneva require substantial electricity, is advancing its energy efficiency goals through this partnership. With 3.1 GW of capacity either operational or under construction, Voltalia is also advancing a development portfolio totaling 17.2 GW.
