UNSW Sydney has been awarded $1.7 million by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to study how consumer energy resources (CER) such as rooftop solar, batteries, and electric vehicles can be better integrated into the National Energy Market (NEM). This three-year project aims to address challenges in grid stability caused by increasing ownership of decentralized energy systems. The study will analyze real-world data and develop new tools to help improve the integration of CERs, with insights for the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) and Distributed Network Service Providers (DNSPs). The goal is to enhance grid resilience and optimize the benefits of local energy generation.
