UK-based Low Carbon, a Renewable Energy Company has announced plans for the South Kent Energy Park, a solar and energy storage project with a 500 MW capacity. The project will span 600 hectares on Romney Marsh, Kent. The project is expected to generate about 464 GWh of electricity annually. This is enough to power approximately 140,000 homes, covering 20% of Kent’s households. The site includes land near Old Romney, extending north and south of the A259. The project includes infrastructure to connect to the national grid and requires development consent as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project. Community consultations are planned to gather local input on the design.
