US-based Equinix, Inc., a leader in digital infrastructure, has signed its first PPA in India with CleanMax, a renewable energy provider backed by Brookfield. According to Equinix, this partnership will see the development of a 33 MW captive power plant in Maharashtra, comprising 26.4 MW of solar and 6.6 MW of wind capacity. The renewable energy from this project will supply Equinix’s data centers in Mumbai. The project is expected to begin phased operations in 2025, providing green energy to Equinix’s International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers. With this agreement, Equinix now has 23 PPAs globally, projected to supply over 3.1 million MWh of renewable energy annually across several nations.
