The New South Wales government’s Independent Planning Commission has granted approval for the Middlebrook Solar Farm, located about 22 km south of Tamworth, New South Wales. The project, developed by Middlebrook Solar Farm Pty Ltd, includes a 320 MW solar farm and a 320 MW / 780 MWh battery storage system. The initiative is expected to generate enough renewable energy to power approximately 122,200 homes and will create up to 400 construction jobs and 15 operational positions. On November 11, 2024, the Commission granted development consent with specific conditions to address community concerns.
