Canada’s SolarBank Corporation announced to develop the 3.1 MW West Petpeswick solar project in Nova Scotia is part of the province’s Community Solar Program. Owned by AI Renewable, the West Petpeswick project will connect directly to the local grid, enabling community members to subscribe and receive energy bill credits without installing solar panels on their property. Additionally, SolarBank is working on 31 MW of solar projects across the province. The company identified challenges such as securing community solar contracts, interconnection approvals, and stable policies for economic viability. These factors are essential to support Nova Scotia’s goals of 80% renewable energy by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2035.
