SOLARCYCLE, a US-based company, is establishing a 5 GW solar recycling facility in Georgia, in collaboration with Governor Brian P. Kemp. The 255,000 sq.ft facility will initially recycle two million solar panels annually, scaling to process up to 10 million panels by 2030. This capacity could address 30% of the US’s retired solar panels, according to SOLARCYCLE. Adjacent to its solar glass factory, the campus will produce 5-6 GW of specialized glass for crystalline-silicon PV and aims to strengthen domestic solar supply chains by repurposing recycled materials. SOLARCYCLE states that its advanced recycling process can recover up to 99% of photovoltaic materials, particularly optimized for bifacial panels. Supported by strategic investors like Microsoft, the facility will create over 1,250 full-time jobs and is set to be operational by mid-2025.
