Voltalia, a France-based renewable energy company, has secured financing for its 126 MW Sarimay Solar plant in Uzbekistan through an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The $54.6 million financing package includes a senior loan of up to $44.8 million and a €9 million ($9.8 million) VAT facility, earmarked for construction costs. Additionally, a $7 million loan tranche is backed by an unfunded guarantee from the European Union’s European Fund for Sustainable Development Plus. Awarded to Voltalia in 2022, the Sarimay project features a 25-year PPA and aims for commissioning in the second half of 2025. The plant will supply renewable power for approximately 60,000 residents, reducing CO2 emissions by around 141,000 tons annually.
