EKI Energy Services, an India-based carbon credit developer, has registered the world’s first floating solar project under the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM). Developed by Greenam Energy, the 24.7 MW floating solar plant operates on Tamil Nadu’s water reservoirs, supplying renewable energy for captive use. This initiative is projected to reduce approximately 38,376 tons of CO2 emissions each year. Meeting Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) criteria managed by Verra, a nonprofit organization committed to upholding robust climate standards, this project ensures high-quality, credible carbon credits. EKI Energy Services claims this registration marks a significant advancement for both sustainable energy and the carbon credit market.
