PowerChina signs EPC contract for South Africa’s 342 MW PV Plant

China’s PowerChina signed an EPC contract with SolarAfrica Energy for the De Aar Central Solar Power Plant in South Africa’s Northern Cape Province. The project, based in the town of De Aar, is set to have a total installed capacity of 342 MW, single-unit solar power facility in South Africa. It was designed to supply clean energy to data centers and various commercial and industrial users nationwide. The agreement expanded PowerChina’s role in South Africa’s renewable energy construction market and supported the Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit. PowerChina intended to use its expertise to aid South Africa’s transition to green energy while supporting economic and social development in the region.
