Recurrent Energy’s 134 MW Liberty Solar project powers up in Texas

Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc., announced that its Liberty Solar project, a 134 MW (100 MW (AC)) solar installation in Liberty County, Texas, has reached commercial operation. The project, located about 50 miles northeast of Houston, is set to provide clean energy sufficient to power approximately 15,000 homes annually. Customers of the project include notable corporations such as Autodesk, Inc., Biogen Inc., EMD Electronics, and Wayfair Inc., which are purchasing renewable energy from Liberty Solar. The project’s development was supported by financial backing, including an $80 million tax equity investment from US Bancorp Impact Finance. Liberty Solar contributes to the energy grid within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) market.
