The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $434.25 million loan to boost Assam’s renewable energy development and enhance energy security. This fund aims to help Assam achieve its goal of 3 GW of solar capacity by 2030, including the construction of a 500 MW grid-connected PV facility in Karbi Anglong. A storage system is also planned to be developed to stabilize the grid, jointly managed by Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. Tripura Power. The project seeks to attract private investment through a public-private partnership for an additional 250 MW PV facility. ADB will also provide a $1 million grant to support execution, capacity-building, and community awareness efforts.
