China-based Sungrow partnered with Emerge, a joint venture between Masdar and EDF, to provide inverters for a 60 MW solar PV plant developed for the Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) in the UAE. The project was awarded to Al Mustakbal Clean Tech as the EPC contractor, was located at the Sajaa Gas Complex and became Sharjah’s largest solar power plant. The plant was designed to power SNOC’s operations during the day, while excess energy was exported to Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA), to supply electricity to SNOC at night. The solar plant was expected to offset 66,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, equivalent to removing over 14,600 cars from the roads each year. This initiative aligned with SNOC’s 2032 Net-Zero goal and supported the UAE’s broader Net-Zero 2050.
